"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it."

- Roald Dahl

Welcome to smalltracks.org. My name is Maria, and I'm really glad you stumbled on my passion project/experiment. I am a writer and designer from the southern tip of Africa that sometimes lives on a bicycle and plays all the time. Don't take anything I say seriously, but you must know that I never joke.

smalltracks.org has a dual purpose. I describe it as an in breath and an out breath. Under the small tracks page you will find what I choose to breathe in - stories about my travels and inspiring individuals I meet, photographs from unique destinations, book reviews, music reviews - anything I find that forms part of the intricate and beautiful tapestry of experience on this beautiful planet we call home.

Under the page called LHBA (Let Here Be Art) you will find what I choose to breathe out - stories, lists, advice, musings and rants that help me make sense of the world. Sometimes I add a drawing or photo or two. I sometimes enjoy putting ink on my friends, so you can also see a collection of some custom designed handpoke tattoos. Let Here Be Art is a manifesto for the way I wish to be in the world - my entire being and doing a work of art.

smalltracks.org is affiliated with the powerful force that is TreeSisters. 80% of all the income I generate through this website and my Patreon page goes to their non-profit organisation aiming to radically accelerate tropical reforestation by engaging the unique feminine consciousness, gifts and leadership of women everywhere and focusing it towards global action.

TreeSisters are planting well over one million trees per year, and they are now calling for women to plant one million trees per month, by becoming a treesister and contributing monthly to tropical reforestation.

If you find value in the content I generate for you here (all the content on smalltracks.org is free and always will be -  I share extra titbits and niceties for Patrons only on my Patreon page), please consider donating here or becoming a patron - I will thank you, TreeSisters will thank you and, most importantly, Mother Earth will thank you!
